The search for a diamond

The Search for a Diamond is a brilliant account of history wrapped in a novel against the backdrop of the Civil War and westward expansion. The view of twin brothers, Joseph and Jacob Diamond, is seen when they both had to leave their poor father’s estate. Hailing from a Kentucky horse farm, the brothers are torn apart by the war when Joseph joins the Confederate forces and Jacob fights for the Union. Compelling narratives of the brothers’ individual trials and tribulations, mixed with the historical background of events, make for a rich tapestry of life in America in the 19th century. The more the war rages on, both the brothers encounter dilemmas of great proportion; questions of loyalty, courage, and so much more. Joseph goes out west, broken and banished, to restart life when Jacob returned home to his shattered Farm and made a journey to find his brother. Their travels are to be filled with adventure, danger and unexpected twists; they meet Native American tribes and the Frontier’s hard luck. In due course of the narration, the story adds interesting characters to its list, such as that of Mary Elizabeth Lucas, a young nurse’s aide, and her son Jack, who are in some intricate relationship with the Diamond brothers. The Search for a Diamond brings to life a beautiful story of family, loyalty, and a never-giving-up will toward a better future. JL Whitaker brings historical detail, storytelling with the heart, and makes compulsion for the fans of historical fiction.
